Philippians 2:8 “And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.”
– “He humbled himself” the highest place in glory is His by every right, but when His time came to come to Earth He was laid in a feeding trough (Luke 2:7) buried in a borrowed tomb (Mat. 27:60) and had no permanate home in between (Mat. 8:20).
– “obedient unto death” He didn’t try to be raptured out like Enoch and Elijah. For Him that would have been cheating. Redemption depends on His death. And that, “the death of the cross” see Ps. 22:6.
– This was the lowest point He could go; a common criminal’s cross. It was for Him a heart decision (He was willing to following the plan) but it was also a body decision (His flesh didn’t want to die) see v5.
