John or Jesus speaking??

2 John vs 12 “Having many things to write unto you, I would not write with paper and ink: but I trust to come unto you, and speak face to face, that our joy may be full.”
While we know that this is Apostle John writing to someone we can also look at it as a glimpse of Jesus speaking to His church. Note with me please:
He says he has many things to write unto us. We know from John 1: 1 that Jesus is the Word. That word “Word” used there means the spoken word (it also calls back to Genesis 3:8 where they heard the voice of God walking in the garden). As that Jesus is the spoken word and the Bible is His word He truly has written many things already to us. But the writer also says that there are things he will not write down. For us that is the same as Jesus giving us just a glimpse of the wonders of heaven, as they say the half has not yet been told.
When he says that he is trusting to come and speak face to face we are reminded that one day Jesus is coming for us. One day we will see Him and our faith will end in sight. And on that day we are going home to heaven. Our joy will be complete because of all we will receive, especially getting to spend eternity with the one who died for us. His joy will be complete because He died for us (Hebrews 12:2) and He will finally take us home forever, where we will be permanently delivered from the sin that is in this world. Oh happy day!
