Barren & Virgins

Luke 1:36 “And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren.”
Isaiah 7:14 “…Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a sin…”
Luke 1:27 “To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary.”
One thing that both the barren and virgins have in common is that neither has ever had a child.
In our first verse we see the angel telling Mary that her cousin Elisabeth who has been trying to conceive a child for decades has finally got her desire. A baby is on the way, in this case John the Baptist is being expected.
Our second verse is a prophesy given hundreds of years beforehand of how there would be an heir to the throne of David and that king Ahaz who did not follow God was more concerned with the family line continuing then following God. So God promised him that a virgin would have a child.
In our third verse that virgin is now on the scene. Mary, to be frank, has never had sex she is a virgin. She did not remain that way, she had other children after Jesus (Matthew 13:55,56). At this time though she was a virgin.
Now some of these false translations change that word “virgin” to “young maid” or “young girl”. That don’t work. It creates the possibility that Joseph was really the daddy of Jesus thus making Jesus 100% human and sinful. I say this with great concern because that changing of the word virgin is a problem that will help send people to hell. Being a young girl doesn’t make you sexually pure. I personally know a girl, she is a woman now, who wanted a baby of her own so badly that as soon as she could she started sleeping around. By the time she celebrated her 12th birthday she was several months along with her first child. Pregnant at 11! She was a young girl, but not a virgin.
Mary was a virgin and the Bible tells us that even though she was already pregnant Joseph did the right thing and did not try to have relations with her during her pregnancy (Matthew 1:25).
Jesus was born of a virgin because He is the Son of God come to save us.
