The wrapping of THE GIFT

Recently I was speaking with a fellow preacher about a young man who I had given a Christmas present to. My friend had recognized the gift because of the way it was wrapped up. When giving my gifts to my fellow preachers the gifts are always books on the Bible and always wrapped in aluminium foil. It is kind of my calling card.
Well on that first Christmas morning when God gave His gift He too used a special wrapping for it. Mary wrapped baby Jesus up in swaddling clothes (Luke 2:7), the same cloth used to wrap up a dead body but God wrapped His gift of Jesus Christ in the wrappings of human flesh.
Jesus came as one of us, born in this world in the natural way, growing up as a normal child would, learning a trade (carpenter), He got hungry, He got tired, everything you and I do accept sin He did and went through. All so that Jesus, the God-Man, could pay a sin debt He didn’t owe for a race that really doesn’t love Him.
John 3:14,15 “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” The cure must be in the form of the disease. So God had to wrap Him in human flesh.
Thank you God for doing that for me.
