What do we have?

Over in Acts 2 we find Peter and John going to the temple to pray. Just in other day. Except this day they met a crippled man. He was there hoping for a hand-out.
In 2:6 Peter said these fateful words to him, “silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.”  He didn’t have any money to give the man. What he did have was what he spiritually needed.
The ability to walk was important but still not what he needed, he needed to be saved. By suddenly being able to get up showed that spiritually he had already risen and was now saved. Walking was just an outward sign of what he now had. Salvation didn’t come because Peter touched him or even that Peter told him who could heal him. It came because he had faith in Jesus and used it to get it up.
It is not our money that will help out in the long run though in the short term it can help. What we need to have so we can help others is well developed, fed, and exercised faith in Jesus Christ and passing that on to others.
