Rejoicing at a fall

Acts 12:1-3 “Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church. And he killed James the brother of John with the sword. And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also.”
People love to see others fall, that is why videos of stupid people hurting themselves are so popular. But there are people really love to see individuals fall who have chosen to take a stand on an issue. When it comes to the subject of Jesus, those who have made themselves standout had best be on their best behavior because someone is waiting for them to fall.
Now James did no wrong, he only preached the truth. But the truth gets in the way of certain things. So when Herod got tired of James preaching the truth he “knocked” him down and got applause from the other people who too were being bothered by the truth.
Not every fall has to be because of sin. Sometimes the fall is because the race is over and God has called that person home. There removal though causes joy with the enemy because a hero of the faith has fallen.
My advice is don’t give others the chance to rejoice at your fall due to sin, let them rejoice because you have gone home and no longer will preach the truth to them. That will be a good testimony. Better yet let them mourn because you have taken up the slack for a departed saint!
