Did he ever put them back on?

In Joshua 5:15 “And the captain of the LORD’S host said unto Joshua, Loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou standest is holy. And Joshua did so.”
Now these are the same shoes that hadn’t worn out in 40 years of wandering in the wilderness. The same shoes that were symbolic of the children of Israel’s authority from God Himself to go in to Canaan and take possession of the land. Those shoes Joshua was told to remove.
Here is the thing, no where is it recorded that he put them back on. I am sure at some point he did. Think about it though, removing them was under orders from the supreme commander so the authority the shoes provided was now superseded! He didn’t have to put them back on.
I have heard of preachers who get up to preach and remove their shoes and I have done it myself. The authority from God to preach is there already, the removing the shoes helps to remember under whose authority it is being carried out.
For someone with foot problems it is not very comfortable but spiritually it is.
