Animal control

1 Kings 21:23,24 “And of Jezebel also spake the LORD, saying, The dogs shall eat Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel. Him that dieth of Ahab in the city the dogs shall eat; and him that dieth in the field shall the fowls of the air eat.”
This was right after Jezebel had set up a man and his family for execution just so Ahab could take control of that man’s property. About 20 years would pass before the prophecy was fulfilled. In all that time I wonder did she jump whenever she heard a dog bark? Did the sight of a dog loose on the streets make Ahab’s heart skip a beat? Was there a standing order that any dog seen in Jezreel was to be killed on the spot?
Judgement was coming and the dogs only represented it. It may be that by the time of fulfillment both of these wicked people may have seared their conscience shut. To think that either sought forgiveness is a waste of time. Not that they couldn’t have done it or that God wouldn’t have given it, it was just too contrary to their natures. The dogs of judgement can only be kept at bay for so long, Numbers 32:23 “But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the LORD: and be sure your sin will find you out.”
