It’s okay to not be as well known

I was listening to a preacher the other day, and during his sermon he brought up how God’s plans had changed his. That these new plans kept him from attending certain meetings he had been going to for years and he missed getting to share the pulpit with some big name preachers. What God had given him to do was more important though.
I admit it kinda stung. He is up there commenting about missing being in the meetings with these men and I’m over here thinking “at least you got to do that”. What I quickly realised though is that not every preacher is to be on center stage. We all have our proper place and need to embrace it.
That got me to thinking about this list of names. Matthew 10:2-4 “Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus; Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.”
Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus and hung himself. James the brother of John is the only other one we know for sure how he died (I am not counting tradition here). Peter, John, and Matthew wrote some of the books of the Bible. What of the rest of the APOSTLES what did they do? They were used by Jesus to spread the gospel, in His strength under His guidance. Apostles, and we have only tradition about them but God knows all about them. Faithfulness is what God wants from His children not so much of our own wants.
