It’s a hard thing

Philippians 4:6,7 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

The other day was a bad day. It seemingly started the moment I left for work and it just kept on going down hill. Once work was over I headed off to my therapy appointment. For which I arrived very early. To be honest I was in a rotten mood and didn’t know what I wnted to do, in fact driving off into the sunset sounded very appealing.

Instead I parked in an adjacent parking out and decided to get some work done. I have been doing a simple Bible study over the past few months. Being early and in a relatively quite spot seemed like a good place to do some recording.

This Bible study is something of a chapter by chapter attempt to go through the Bible, a sort of audio commentary. I am recording my thoughts on the chapters, beginning woth Genesis, not looking to go deep into the i dividual verses. Rather an effort to wet the appetite of the listener. The recordings are about 15-20 minutes long so brief enough to get people to be willing to listen.

On that day what I found was that it helped ease my burden, relaxed my mind, and reduced my stress. All from recording just a couple of chapters and getting into God’s word, just like Paul said in v8,9 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there beany praise, think on these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

That truly is the case. The hard part is keeping it in mind.

By the way if you are interested those  audio chapters can be found on just search for me, Dennis Sampson. The series currently is titled Genesis chapter overviews. The first 20 or so are up now, Ruth will hopefully be up soon, and more to come!
